Synopsis

Hugo Hymas sings the title role with Charlotte La Thrope as Euridice accompanied by a period instrument band of cornets and sackbuts, regal and organs, harpsichords and chitaroni, an arpa doppia and various viols and a lirone.

The Production:

Durham Opera Ensemble with David Stancliffe and a period instrument orchestra perform Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo, one of the earliest operas ever written, and the oldest in the standard repertoire.
