Synopsis

In the centenary year of the outbreak of the First World War, Durham Opera Ensemble is embarking on an exploration of conflict in Opera. The production will encompass a selection of Operatic scenes based upon the themes of War and Peace in the setting of the majestic Castle Great Hall.

The Production:

This first term production incorporated a large cast and was, therefore, a perfect way for freshers and newcomers to get involved and see what our society is about. We are extremely delighted to announce that during the run of War and Peace: A Portrait of Conflict in Opera we managed to raise a grand total of £297.00 for the Royal British Legion. Thank you to everyone who came to support us and to those who donated so generously!
